Checklist if email not working from Outlook, Macmail etc

Setting up your email account through email programs like Outlook, MacMail etc can sometimes run into problems

Below are the most common causes why there might be problems with either  receiving or most likely sending emails.

  • User name not being entered correctly – the user name is the full email address for the POP3 account being used e.g. my_name@mydomain.com
  • Outgoing mail requires authentication being selected. The username and password are the same as for incoming POP3 mail.
  • SSL encryption being selected. Our email does not support encryption so this option must NOT be selected.
  • DO NOT connect with a “secure” password. The mail server cannot understand an encrypted email password. Check that under More settings – Advanced, that Encrypted connection is set None.
  • There is a possiblity that your ISP is blocking port 25. Providers like AOL block this to prevent outside users from relaying bulk email off their servers. You should contact your provider to see if port 25 is blocked.  You use either  port 26 or 587 for the outgoing server.

ALTERNATIVE APPROACH   IF SENDING EMAIL FAILS

As an alternative, it is possible to configure outgoing mail via your own ISP. If you already have a working account, then just copy the same settings for the outgoing server ONLY.

If none of the above work please contact support@wellsites.com.au
